2011 Catskill Lark in the Park Mountain Bike Rides

10/1 – Beginner Mountain Bike Ride at Jockey Hill – 1PM
Are you curious about mountain biking and would like to give it a try? Join the Fats in the Cats Bicycle Club for a beginner mountain bike ride at Jockey Hill in Bluestone Wild Forest. Ride leaders will go over some basic mountain biking skills, and we will get out on Old Woods Road and few sections of single-track trail. Helmets and mountain bikes are required (no road or hybrid bicycles). Come check it out! 5 miles – approximately 1.5 hours; Easy-Moderate; Pre-registration is required by 9/30; To sign up for the ride, email [email protected].

Directions – From the NYS Thruway exit 19 take Rt 28 west. Get off at the exit for Rt. 209 north. Get off at the first exit onto Sawkill Road. Take a left at the bottom of the ramp and follow Sawkill Road approx. 3 miles to Jockey Hill Road. Turn left and follow that to the end of the road and park in the cul-de-sac.

10/2 – Intermediate/Advanced Mountain Bike Ride at Onteora Lake – 10AM
Join the Fats in the Cats Bicycle Club for an intermediate mountain bike ride at Onteora Lake in Bluestone Wild Forest. We will ride technical single track through hemlock and oak forests, abandoned bluestone quarries, and enjoy views of Onteora Lake and Pickerel Pond. Helmets are required. 10 miles – approximately 2 hours; Moderate; Pre-registration is required by 9/30; To sign up for the ride, email [email protected].

Directions – Take New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 19 (Kingston), then State Route 28 west 3 miles to the Onteora Lake entrance sign on the right. From the West – take NYS Route 28 towards Kingston and look for Onteora Lake trailhead sign (on left) shortly after the Woodstock Harley Davidson motorcycle shop on the right.
