No studs needed, the ice is where youd expect @ stream crossings. The frost heaves add a little uncertainty and strain -not so bad tho. Overall conditions are good, but precipitation may happen Thursday.
Bill-If you post when youre riding you'll probably see some diehards-I will try.
Conditions on the Gut Loop trail include a massive mouse apocalypse served up by owl(s):

What will be the equipment of choice for 1/5/2K10, 5:30 ride?
Shoes? Kenda's? XC skis?
By the way, this guy ain't coming. After leading Bill Z. Tim and Jim G. around 909 he thinks he is Top Dog !

We're going to try biking...and bringing hiking shoes in case.
It'll be tough, but the more tracks the easier it'll be!
There's not quite enough for my lightweight snowshoes.
Its 5" of light fluff -I dont know if its enough for x/c ski-Gordys not.

We're consistent to excess Tuesdays but currently the snow's too deep @ 909 for a good pedal.
Alternate plans for 1/12 -please pm me for details if interested.
Its a challenging pace -I'd say a strong sport level- but most of us arent training.
