Has anyone ridden there recently? The park between the Rhinebeck Bridge and Rhinebeck? I rode there a couple years ago. As far I remember you could spend a couple hours there. Just wondering if all the single track is still in shape. Anyways, are they aloud to hunt there? Just trying to find alternative places to ride once hunting season starts. _________________ greg

I rode there about a dozen times over the summer, but haven't been since sometime in early September...my daily commute brings me by the park, so it is nice and easy for me. Hunting is not allowed there, so it is a good place to go during hunting season. The trails don't get too much use, so the Spring & Fall are the best times to ride...the rest of the time a lot of trails are overgrown. You could probably ride for about an hour...but after that you would either be riding trails multiple times or doing boring doubletrack.
There are some trails just the the south of the parking lot that are decent. If you park in the lot, head up the hill and then take a left on the "Bridal Path" it will bring you to some singletrack with a few dirt jumps and a small wooden bridge over a stream. This will eventually bring you out to the south end of the pond.
Other good trails are in the northwest corner of the park. If you park in the main lot, head up the hill...you will see some double-track just to the right(maybe left) of a lean-to...take this all the way to the top of the hill (a mile or so). You can then take some windy singletrack(include a few fast 1 foot drops) all the way down to River Road (borders the west side of the park)...which makes for a good climb back up. |

I'll keep that in mind Greg. I have to go to Rhinebeck Sat AM. to fix my Aunts car first, but I would love to get a small ride in before I spend the rest of the day cleaning my place.

Wondering if the firetower is accessible, that was neat when I was a kid. Its a small park open to Mt. bikes, best not to think about adding Poets Walk (closed to bikes). There's a couple more miles up @ Tivoli bays. It may be worth your time exploring. About 5 miles of trail. _________________ Pedal, b*tches!! |

Not sure when they took the firetower down, but it hasn't been there for at least a few years... |

Ruby probably has as much riding as Jockey hill only more spread out, lots of double track. But there is a 5 mi singletrack loop and it is sweet!! It would take most of a day to ride all of Ruby, You will have to hook up with someone who knows it well to really exploit all of the riding there. Ruby can be hooked up with Onteora lake and Jockey hill to make an awesome offroad loop with about a mile and a half of road. The entire loop could be anywhere from 12 mi to 25 mi depending on your route. It is mostly private land but small groups are generally no problem. One local rider has built a singletrack loop off of dutchtown road but not enough people ride it to keep it open. Lots and lots of riding here, just hook up with a loco, I mean local. _________________ Dont ever look at my name in vain- ODB |

I rode around for about an hour today...just enough to be amused. I would love to go back with someone who knows where they are going. Overall, it seems like a good place for a quick riding fix
