Please Jamie, for the love of god, change your screen pix back to a cute girl with bike. NW guy is cute but very, very disturbing.

nude welfareman - I am open to both the male and female form. I hope you can handle that Pete-avatars are more than simply for pinup models-they are art. Mad

While I respect your appreciation of both the male & female forms, I have to say that NW man is not an artistic representation of either.

Mostly I just wish he'd close his legs... can that happen?

While I don't find NW man an enjoyable image, I don't think the few Female riders find it as objectionable as images portraying women as naked nit-wits. All of the women riders I know are smart, tough and work hard to stay competitive in a man dominated sport. We need more women riders; so lets encourage their participation any way we can and not minimize or stereotype them, even if its only an avatar.

...that is an excellent point-whoa

and just for clarification, my avatar pics contained no naked females, or nit-wits...they did contain females who appear to be very strong and secure- confidence perhaps gained from participation in the male dominated sport of mountain biking

the pics are ridiculous and meant to be funny because they over the top hypermasculine, and just plain dumb. If any were offended, I apologize. I have no intention to stereotype or minimize females or females athletes- even in an avatar-I hoped that would be apparent

In a over PC world it is better for people not to speak for others.

Say what you think, not what you think others think, because we really know it's actually what you think anyway.

I like the pastey legged guy. Wink

for the record, this female who rides a bike takes no offense to silly avatars of bikini clad ladies on bikes.

NW man, on the other hand, will haunt my dreams (in the bad way) for some time.

I too was offended. Unfortunately we live in a male dominated society where women are thought of as sex objects and that avatar was a prime example of that way of thinking. I wonder how the men on this forum would feel if that was a picture of their wife, mother, daughter, sister etc.

Speaking as an actual member of the "dominating"(your word not mine) side I disagree. I do not think as you stereotypically describe. I'm engaged in a sharing and balanced relationship and do not share in "that way of thinking."

Please do not speak for me.

I do understand the humor in which both types of avatars have been posted.

Just trying to make a point!! I have been mountain biking for 20 years and trying to encourage women to join this male dominated sport and the image that avatar portrays is degrading to women. This mindset runs counter to the progressive sport that mountain biking is and should be.
