I have three (3) vintage bicycles that need to go to a good home.

-197? Motobecane Mirage. Needs TLC. 12-speed. 53cm?
-198? Panasonic DX2000. Nice rider in great shape. Needs seat. 12-speed.
-1969 Chiorda Safari folding bike. New 20" tires, tubes, KoolStop pads. Sturmy-Archer 3-speed. Chrome fenders and chain guard shined up well. Still folds. Needs to be cleaned up a little more but it's a nice riding machine.

I will give away the Motobecane and Panasonic, but I either need a trade or $50 for the Chiorda to cover the good parts I just put on it.

Any interest, get in touch with me! Can provide pictures.

Kevin

I would love to see that last one.

I just restored a 1950's Gazelle(Raleigh made) with the suicide Sturmey archer 3speed. I am into it for about $50. I love it, but it is on the small side for me. Let me know and I can swing by with it.

BBJ, I am definitely interested in the Gazelle as a trade or purchase. You should definitely swing by some time, or I can cruise by. I am free the rest of the week after work, is there a time that's good for you?

Bill, check your PM's.

Pictures of the folding bike:

It still needs a little bit of cleaning/adjusting, but it is rideable as it sits. The brakes are kind of cheesey, but the KoolStop pads help to slow you down. Because it lacks a top tube, the ride is very cushy. The seat height and handlebar height is very adjustable....it is shown at its max here. At this seat level, it is too high for me at my height of 5'7". There is a generator on the front, but it needs a headlight.

BBJ, pm sent.

Here is a picture of the Panasonic. Butted 1020 gas pipe steel with nice lugs. No picture of the Motobecane yet, as it is a typical French bike boom relic. I am keeping the fenders, saddle, rack, and panniers.

Kevin,

Sorry I do not have any pictures of the gazelle yet. I would say it is probably one notch ahead of the folding bike. All of its original parts were in tact including the Firestone tires. The only thing that had to be replaced were the grips. I also put on a SRAM PC-1 chain and a Shimano 22T rear cog so I could get up a few hills. The Sturmey archer rear hub has a coaster brake built into it. It is the "suicide" brake because if you do not have a gear engaged the coaster brake does not work. I love the bike, but like I said she is on the small side. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

Why are you thinning out the fleet?

I am pretty sure it is also a 53cm bike. It rides nice and has served as my work commuter about 10x this year. If you were going to ride it a lot, I would seek out some $10 brake lever hoods to make it easier on your hands.

Most likely tomorrow afternoon.

Also, the folding bike is not for sale anymore. I am going to keep it since it takes up next to no room.

If you think it deserves some $$, then just give me whatever you think is appropriate.

It needs cables, housing, headset adjustment, and a good cleaning. I have the front brake that is missing in the picture. The fork is an upgrade since the original owner bent the first one. The rims seem true enough, and the tires/tubes are good. The date codes on the hubs show it as a 1978. Drivetrain is Suntour. It is a 53cm frame. Originally bought at Kingston Cyclery, once you clean/wrench this French bicycle up, it's going to look and ride nice Smile

Looks good. $20 spot sound good to you? That'll leave me a little left over to get her road ready. (still a bit broke from college, I hate loans)
