Adirondack Wilderness Comment Period Ends December 30 2016

The Boreas Ponds area of the Adirondacks and its future classification towards wilderness would ban bicycles. While there are no plans at this time to add mountain bike trails and the area is sparsely populated, which means volunteer maintainers would be few and far between, we should still comment that we prefer to have it classified as Wild Forest rather than Wilderness.

Please send comments that you support a "Wild Forest" classification that would allow mountain biking so the land could be saved for a future mountain biking area. We do not want the land classified as "Wilderness" which would ban bicycles forever. There is no danger that the place will be overrun by mountain bicycles as the area is very hard to get to and the terrain is rugged but let's save this for our future mountain bicyclists.

Here is a link to a video that I think lays out the issue very clearly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rPLv3Bx5gY

Please submit testimony to save this beautiful area from a potential bike ban.

There are some stories in the “News” section of www.nysnowmobiler.com ; which offer their experience visiting the property.

Detailed information is available at www.apa.ny.gov .

Please share with anyone you think would be interested in this issue.

Please submit comments by December 30 2016 to:
