Ashokan Rail Trail Public Information Meeting - Dec 1st

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE: The Ulster County Department of Planning has scheduled a Public Information Meeting on the "Ashokan Rail Trail" project on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Onteora High School/ Middle School Auditorium (located at 4166 Route 28 in Boiceville). The Meeting will include a presentation on Project planning activities to date and a discussion by the County's engineering consultants of preliminary design proposals and site assessment findings . The Planning Department will also solicit public input on the proposed trail project following the presentation.

Overlook Crew is rallying the troops-come out to ride or simply attend the meeting to learn and support the cause. A note from the mailbag...

"Hi all!

This Thursday evening we are gathering as many willing and able participants as we can.

Join us! We will ride from Overlook bike shop to the Ashokan Rail Trail meeting at Onteora High school. We ride at 6pm!

The meeting starts at 7, so meet at the shop and be ready to ride by 6pm. We'll ride to the high school, attend the meeting, then have a nice route picked to get back to the shop. Perhaps some beer and what not at the shop after (maybe a quick stop at the Boiceville Inn on the pedal home, hehe). You'll need a headlight and a taillight.

THERE ARE MANY REASONS YOU SHOULD MAKE THIS HAPPEN

-- The ride will be good fun

-- It is so important that we show support for the rail trail project at this critical juncture.

-- There will likely be project opponents present who are very loud, they mustn't be allowed to rule the day.

-- We need to come out in force. Let's critical mass this business.

-- You appreciate all the hard work so many people have put into advocating and planning for this project and want to represent

-- You recognize that Thursday is your opportunity to represent in a way that is consistent with your values, sense of community and fun

-- You look good in spandex

-- The force is strong within you

-- This trail is going to be an awesome addition to our local cycling infrastructure and our quality of life
