My Trek Rumblefish 1x10 was shifting like crap today. When I got back to the car, I picked it up and turned it on its side to put it in the car, and the rear 12mm Maxle FELL OUT. I assume my shifting problems were because my axle was completely unscrewed. This isn't the first time I have had the rear axle loosen, and this is the second Maxle that has given me problems in the last month. (Both the type with the inner skewer.)
Any suggestions?
Also, SLX 1x11 group sets from Asia are up on eBay if anyone cares. _________________ Jesse |

I have seen particular type of skewer loosen b4 on a friends bike . If you you check it before the ride, and it loosens during, then I think its time to replace it, as that could be catastrophic to lose a wheel. I would see if a different design works |

Maxel ultimate is great-you could also use a thru that is not quick release _________________ If I can bicycle, I bicycle.

Try a little locktight on it.
The dt Swiss one looks nice but is easy to hit/kick loose. I had the same thing happen to me many times, once in the middle of SSAP thinking I broke the hub. Just loosen up after a crash. _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to try the lock tight first because I'm cheap, and it will probably work.
If it doesn't work, I'll go for a new axle. I wonder if it will matter if I get one that rock shox didn't specifically design for Trek' ABP system. After all, it's a stick with threads on the end that holds the wheel on. If it fits, it should work, right? _________________ Jesse |
