Williams Lake is in the process of being sold for 8million dollars. It emcompasses over 700 acres with 3 lakes, and although private, it has been availible for races and a local triahlon club. The trails are varied, technical and quite beautifull!! As members of the Fats we should be concerned and keep a breast of the situation.
Also of note are some recent changes in the Hurley development near the rail trail( see today's Daily Freeman) and the posted Stewart Buffer Zone master plan.
Members can write to local politcal reps., attend town meetings, and submit suggestions to the DEC or other appropriate entities. We can hardly afford to lose any trails in the area.

For the Stewart Master Plan follow the links on the Fats homepage.
Russell read through most of it and discovered that many miles of single track would be lost and most of the mtn biking would be regulated to dirt roads. This was recently a hot topic at the last Fats meeting.
The Hurley development is being covered by the Daily Freeman and I would search their website. It originally called for 200 plus homes on 400 acres, a gated, senior community. The company who was going to do the development is restructuring and it seems all plans for development are being looked at. If any members are from Hurley maybe they can better keep us informed.
