I have a series of big rides that I'd like to make happen this season. I will post them up here. Rides will usually be 35-50 or so miles, contain some paved/dirt road sections, and take 5-8 hrs.

These rides are not fast paced, but are advanced as stops are limited, terrain difficult, and nutrition/stamina are important. Bailout options are rare.

Stay tuned...and if you have a good route, feel free to pass along!

Original SSAP course (believe it was going to be 32 miles, 1 loop) + some extra? I was going to stop by dark horse and George said he'd mark out the course on a map for me that I can give you (or if you want to stop in next time you're down there).

Good thought-I have ridden Stewart enough so that I can easily put together a solid ride with no map. (the DH 40 was always a good time)

Sunday 5/31
Meet at Reidlebauers @ 9am

Route: 40 miles with option to add on upon return to Round Top.

Start with 10 miles pavement to Hardenberg DEC Lot in Palenville. Dirt climb and trails around North/South Lake. Dirt railtrail into Haines Falls. 5 mile pavement to Colgate Lake. Trail connector back to Round Top.

Advanced ride-took us around 7 hours last time with some route finding. Should be less than that this time around.

Sat 6/13
830am
Jockey Biggie

Park at usual spot. Take a lap around jockey. The take paved roads to Woodstock. Mead Mtn Road to the dirt climb to Overlook Tower. Take singletrack off Overlook across the ridge and eventually down to Platte Clove Rd. Bomb Platte and 15 or so paved miles to Onteora. Take a lap and then Rt 28 to Jockey Hill Rd. Climb and end back at lot.

I bet in the ballpark of 50 miles

recap: awesome ride! 40 miles with a bunch of climbing. A little adventure wandering took some wind out of our sails. As a result the singletrack at onteora and jockey was limited. Tim came along to share some catskill secrets.
