Meet at the turnaround at Jockey hill at 9:00. We will be rebuilding the stone bridge on the Wintergreen loop and armoring the Bear trail by the stream crossing with stone and possibly some corduroy. More updates soon.

Clean up the beer tree?
Also, this would be a good time to take out the bridge on Close to the Edge. |

Depending on how many people show, we can split into 2 groups. One group can work on the bear trail and the other can do some much needed work on Close to the edge. Bring handsaws, a shovel or 2, pruners and gloves. This work should only take a couple of hours. See you then.

Many thanks to the usual suspects that showed up at the cleanup today!! For a small group, we accomplished a much needed task. We armored 60+ feet of trail with bluestone on the Bear Trail. This should be a permanent fix for the muddy section after/before the stream crossing. We also rebuilt the stone bridge at the stream crossing on the Wintergreen Loop.
Thanks Again,

Great job indeed! It was a very nice accomplishment with a very small but dedicated group of Fats members. And speaking of dedicated, where was everybody else? It's funny that we can get 23 members for a Tuesday night ride but when it comes time to do some trail maintenance we can only muster 7. And, on top of that, it's the same 7 that are at every cleanup, workday, etc. I thought for sure with all the airplay that our Forums are getting we would have enough of a turnout to split into two groups and attack the second project we had planned. I guess I was wrong.
For those of you who didn't show up, make sure you thank:

....and let's not forget those dedicated cats who worked in the rain after a full work day to rebuild the bridge at Vassar Farm on Bojangles, and who continue to rebuild there, who may feel slightly guilty going home on Mother's day.
Thanks to all who continue to maintain the trails!
Sorry I couldn't make it.

It's nice to hear that, as Fats grows, there are groups doing trail work at various locations.
Chris I look forward to getting over to Vassar and checking out the work done there. Haven't ridden there in a couple of seasons so I guess it's time. The bridges look pretty cool!
And Greg I hope to ride at Ferncliff again soon to check out your progress, maybe Monday or Friday of this week.
Sounds like you guys are definitely gettin' it done on the East Side!
Thanks _________________ C'mon!! |
