So, I would have LIKED to have biked at 909 on Sunday, however, ...

It's a long story. Basically, I rode this new horse my friend recently bought [because I kind of made her buy him] on Friday morning before we left for a horse show. He is a very, very, very, very nervous horse.

I get on him, he walks a couple of steps, and then he bolts, does flying 360 turns, bucking and rearing. I stayed on only because I was dangling off of him, attached to him because my foot was stuck in a stirrup. Once I realized that, I said, "I AM GOING TO DIE!" Of course I did not die, however, he dragged me to the center of the arena before I got dropped and I ended up pulling a muscle underneath my GOOD knee.

I have some REALLY awesome bruises, too, to make for my MTB fall a couple of weeks ago that really did not bruise up much.

UNFORTUNATELY, I will keep myself off the mountain bike for another week, I think, or at least a few days. I'm so angry about that!!!

However, I think I can still road bike. And I really can't complain because I know a guy who was paralyzed when a horse did that to him. It's only the second time in my life a horse has done that with me, out of hundreds of horses I've ridden, and the first time I've ever been dragged. It was pretty scary! Whatever doesn't kill ya....

Horses are very unpredictable.

Feel better. I know I have been step on and smacked in the jaw with the hoof.

Im staying away from horses,
A few years ago in lake george we took a guided tour in the winter,
Down rollers so my horse had to slide down on his a** and then across a frozen pond
My horse deceided to breakdance then lay down with me still on it,
We got up and contuined on
the next time i ride across a lake the contact will be made by rubber and studs,,,,,not hoofs Very Happy

My reaction was more like, "Gee, I hope he settles down in a couple of weeks so I can ride him again without him being scared of me."

I have been riding horses since I was 2 and I've had all sorts of crazy stuff happen. We tend to shrug it off, count our blessings, and say, "That's horses." There is no cure for the "horse bug" if you are born with it. I will go ride a different horse I have been riding for years this week, if I have time.

I can't really say I have a horse bug but I use to work at a Horse Ranch in Wappingers many yrs ago. I always enjoyed working with them & being around them & I still enjoy seeing them. However I can understand what you mean about just getting back up & trying again. There was 1 stallion that hated me & would go nuts when I needed to clean his stall, nearly kicking me a few times. Thats all in a days work at a Horse ranch, I never did give up on him & he finally started to allow me in his stall. Out of 5 people working there I was the only one he would allow in his stall. I was only 12 then & his owners couldn't understand why he liked me. Oh well just thought I would share that.

Hope everyone is having a nice ride/mothers day. Very Happy
