wow, this is unreal.
letter sent
This is clearly an older person who is completely out of touch with the issue.
I read his bio page, he seems like a good , upstanding citizen,
I hope he realizes this major F***UP and issues an apology, maybe even works to do some good for the cycling communty. |

My first reaction was that this letter cannot be for real. Wow. For comparison, I was really upset at the condition of one of the county roads that goes through Ancram into Gallatinville and I sent an email about how dangerous it is for cyclists and motorcyclists to my town supervisor. He immediately forwarded my email and copied me on it to the County Hwy chairperson. I never received a response, but there was a crew out a couple of weeks later to patch up that stretch of road. (ps, it didn't work or even last very long, but at least there was a response!)
The moral of the story is that if you ever have any concern about a particular road, inform your local legislators. They are very busy, but in order to get things done, you have to say something. The backlash for this letter has been so widespread in NYS that I can't imagine there will not be some kind of positive response in the end. Keep writing your letters! We will get better bike-friendly roads and bike paths! |
