January 13 at the Accord Firehouse we will be showing the movie 'Gasland'
This is an anti-fracking movie that has moved thousands to activism on the topic.
Time is 6:30 PM
Fracking in NYS is temporarily on hold
The Federal Government has been making statements favorable to the development of the Marcellus formation lately.
A movie with a social message, what could be better!
Bring your own anti-acids.
Freeman had it as Jan 6....its not!... _________________ Grumpy is my happy place. |

Haven't seen the movie yet.
I have looked at the information posted by the energy companies.
It is a fine presentation of some seriously flawed engineering guesswork.
The core issue for one town supervisor I spoke with is, that energy companies refuse to disclose the chemical makeup of the solution they pump deep into the earth. Its proprietary you know.
The technology and the science are not yet at the point where safe extraction of these resources is possible now. Lets leave it for generations to follow that can correctly solve the problem. _________________ Grumpy is my happy place. |

This movie leaves you glad that you live in NY and wondering how our own government could just grab all of our beautiful wilderness that was supposed to be for all to enjoy.
I was disgusted and hope that this does not come to ruin this state. |

gasland also showing in new paltz:
These lectures are co-sponsored by the SUNY New Paltz Biology Department, and will take place at the SUNY
New Paltz Lecture Center in Room 100. For directions and a campus map, see www.newpaltz.edu/map. The
Lecture Center is located between the Library and the Humanities Building on the west side of the campus. No
parking permit is required if you park after 6:30 p.m.
January 27 at 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.: Shale Under Siege - Gasland Screening and Discussion. With Cara Lee,
Shawangunk Ridge Program Director, The Nature Conservancy, and Nadia Steinzor, Marcellus Regional
Organizer, EARTHWORKS Oil & Gas Accountability Project. Across the globe and close to home, the race for new
sources of energy is on, with natural gas currently in the lead. The Marcellus Shale region is slated by industry
for extensive gas development using the controversial technique of horizontal hydraulic fracturing or “fracking.”
The documentary Gasland has been critical to raising awareness and sparking discussion on the issue. After the
screening, there will be a discussion about what the gas rush could mean for communities, landowners, and
landscapes in this region and how you can get involved. |
