Spring is coming, and the City of Kingston will again be painting the Green Line down Broadway. Following the Shamrock Run at approximately 1pm the annual parade down Broadway begins at Kingston Plaza. For the past few years a number of club members have decked themselves and their bikes out in green and accompanied the Keegan Ales Float on the parade route while handing out freshly brewed cream soda and root beer to the onlookers along the route. This is a great public relations event for Keegan Ales and is a way for us to support one of our biggest sponsors. If you want to have some fun, are interested, and you think that you can hand out cups of soda while riding your bike, please post up and let Steve Rice (aka Riceball on the Forum member list) know. |

For those of you who haven't paricipated in this before, it is definitely a fun day. Rolling down Broadway, handing out cups of fresh brewed soda, trying to keep your bike balanced, and enjoying water bottles full of refreshment. Fun fun fun!
If you can, put flat pedals on your rig, it helps in the handing out process. And watch out for street vendors and their big carts, they took out one of our guys a few years ago. _________________ C'mon!! |

Believe me, most of the adults on the parade route think it's beer and will either knock you over to get it, or yell at you for giving it to their kids.
Of course our water bottles are filled with a brew of higher quality and flavor. (as well as alcohol content) _________________ C'mon!! |

Hope we can turn out a good crowd for this ride and cover the Stewart cleanup as well. For those of you hearty enough for this ride, I promise another trail cleanup opportunity very soon.
Seems like one of our elves fashioned some sort of serving device for the soda cups one year, but darned if I can remember who or what, any recollections???? I use a neoprene glove myself.
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead Saturday (March 10) night...

Hey Riceball!
'Twas Smiley O'Malley that fashioned a four cup server from a 6x6 cardboard box. My particular box had a divider in it to which I taped four six oz. cups. Put a non absorbant shim in the bottom of each cup to make it easy to grasp while serving the thirsty crowds. A couple of zip ties and some duckt tape and you're good as a pot o'gold. Gloves are definitely recommended! |

So here's the shizzle...
Keegan Ales lines up as Unit 105 (of 108) in the Kingston Plaza, starting at 1130 Ayem. March moves out 1245 SHARP. (but it does take a few minutes to roll 100 units)
Hope we turn out a boisterous crew...
For me this is part of the payback to Tommy Keegan for all those free brews and hosting our meetings.
Hoping also to see some unique decorations and serving devices...
Parade link am here

and thanks for the reminder your royal formerness
