Also, for most rides you should be fairly self sufficient: please carry at least 1 tube, patch kit, pump, food, water, spare derailleur hanger, etc.
A cell phone is handy too.
Other than that, follow along...riding with others is a great way to learn 'new' trails/etc.

If a caravan sounds good, I can link up anywhere near my route from Hyde Park Arrow 9g Arrow Bulls Head/Slate Quarry Arrow TSP Arrow (or 82) Arrow 22.

Also, 2 attendees broke their bikes in the past week, tonight Fongs Way claimed an '08 Trek EX-8 rear.

Yo Bud, Sorry to hear about your bike man.
You were riding that thing to hard up on Fongs.

I'm 93% in for this ride.

Fastest route from Dutchess County.

Yes, which is the first lot on 344 about 5/8mile past the rail trail. Shortly after passing the rail trail a bunch of cabins are visible on the right. Proceed a quarter mile or so on 344, and the wide horseshoe shaped lot is on the right.

The ride begins with a road climb up Falls Road and a right on West to the Mt. Washington headquarters. Our first trail is Ashley Hill and then a series of loops.
The initial climb is rewarded with a long downhill finish, in between is some nice moderately rugged New England woods riding. As I said, there are some technical sections...all potentially rideable.

We will stop at all intersections -the group rides work best when everyone helps keep track of the rider ahead and behind. If you must stop, please let someone know before the group gets too far. Cool

Is South Taconic trail a no-go for bikes? I'm assuming that is why we'd bypass it and get to Ashley via pavement, yes? Seems like hitting up and down the ST to get to the other loops would be a better option, if legal.

Debating this one, but it's a long drive for me to end up riding a bunch of pavement to and from the trails.

Yes Scrub, some trails are closed to bikes and we avoid them. There are other trails worthy of exploration, but this is not that ride.
This ride contains a few miles on back road/rail trail, so it might not suit some.
Bottom line is most who've done this ride do it again.

Looks like I'm in and Linda too. Linda has to be on a train by 5:30 in Pough. More questions for you Tim -

Expected duration? Do you think 4 to 5 hrs is realistic?
Travel time to/from Pough?

Looking forward.

With a few expected stops, 4.5 hours does it.
80 minutes to/from Po'k shouldnt need rushing.
Tomorrows high might be 44* and parts of the route are exposed to wind.

Caravan option: 8:55-9am @ Bulls Head rd. & Taconic Parkway 'Park and Ride.'
