The Zen philosopher Basho once said "The hardest part of any journey is the first step'. I hope the policy of constructive engagement will pay off in the long run.

I will not be able to make it today due to a family emergency. I am sorry. I have been looking forward to meeting everybody since this is my first year, but hopefully I'll be at the next meeting and trail maintenance at Hyde park. Sad

Sorry, but I also have to back out. My daughter has picked up a stomach virus and was up half the night with a 103 fever.

Excellent workday, Fats! Several new and old members came out today and removed a hefty amount of wood from the old stunts at Vassar Farm.
The weather was great, there were practically no bugs (until edgeworker and pedaler found some, stinging ones Surprised ) and it appears everyone enjoyed themselves.

We met Hannah and Jason - Student Conservation Association members working for Vassar- who were super helpful in coordinating the day and helping with the actual hauling as well. They report that Keri, the Farm Manger, is very grateful that we are pitching in at the Farm. It seems like we're on the right track to build a partnership with Vassar.

We ended the work day with delicious pizza and some people even got in a ride afterward.

Big thanks to everyone who came out!

Good work! That place needed a lot of help.

I must admit that it is a bit sad to see those trails change so much. That place is where many generations of dirt jumpers and freeriders learned to ride. I know I did my first drops, jumps and ladder bridges there around 2000...and I was the 2nd or 3rd generation to build/rebuild those things.

Just got in from riding at Vassar. First time since last Fall. The only trail entrance that doesn't have a no biking sign is the one between the ponds. Anywhere else you exit a trail has a no biking sign heading back in.

I had to carry over two and took a couple knocks off my helmet on some new low hanging branches.
