This year I'm looking to get a new camera. The one I have now is a few years old. It takes pictures fine, but not the fastest which makes it kinda tough taking those biking shots. Smile Also the movie portion of it is horrible. What are some of the cameras you are using. Video features good? Quick taking pictures? I'm looking for something small, probably in the $100- $150 price range.

Thanks in advance Very Happy

Mine's a '05 Cannon Powershot A510 (3.2mp) that went for about $200. It takes ok stills, generally blurry action shots and poor sequences. I think its the same camera M. Henry used for video.
I am very impressed by my brothers new camera: $300, water/shock proof, many bells and whistles, awesome! The model info is coming soon. Memory cards are now massive and cheaper.
Btw, here is a great free picture viewer, my Cannon program was awful too:

And, I havent found the time to do a report on Fl. yet, but 50 new pics are up. Rolling Eyes Double click and see em full screen for a dose of fun and sun.

I for one don't like canon cameras
they've had reliability issues in the passed
things may have changed but???

What to look for is a camera that starts up fast.
It sucks to what for a camera to boot while the action is getting away

I like Sony I have an older model and still takes great pixs
slow start up though.

don't get caught up in the more the mega pix the better the camera
alot has to do with the optics that gives you the quality.

Lots of Megapix only means that you can print bigger prints not clearer
or sharper which is contrary to what people will tell you.

Lots of Megapix also mean more download times and storage requirements and if you are only going to post on the web then
you know that you are only posting 640x480 at the most.

My bro's had this for a month and is very happy with it, Ive seen it in action video/stills and submersed:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1314

And, the clincher from the link above:

"Whether you're playing volleyball at the beach, mountain biking or just hanging out at the pool, the Stylus 790 SW is a must-have vacation and party accessory. "

Get a 2 gig card and youve got no memory worries, except Wink
Idea

Confused OOOps, I just read this isnt your price range.

I too have been looking for a new digital camera for on the bike and for an upcoming trip to Europe. I have a Sony Cybershot that I really like. I've had it for 4 years, but it's a bit slow betwen shots and isn't as good with action photos (though this may have changed with the newer models). I keep hearing good things about Cannon for sports photography and I know a lot of mountain bikers who like their cameras, though that doesn't seem to be confirmed in this thread. I'll let you know if my research finds anything good.

I ended up getting the Canon A570 IS. I've only had the chance to use it once. So far very very happy with it. One of the things I was looking for was its response time. This one seems to be quite quick with the action shots.

That's great to hear. I'll have to check that one out. Thanks!
