Panaracer Cinder 2.25" are my favorite.........Great in mud, great in dry.........best all around tire.........

I was doing a quick look last night online looking to buy new tires.........Do they still make the Cinder? I didn't find many places carrying them anymore

I saw Panaracer Cinders on Nashbar:

http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=6000121&subcategory=60001251&brand=&sku=17116&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%2026x2%2E2%20and%20wider

Use code: STBRFS for free shipping until 9/28
or: W235 for 10% off until 10/22

You can find them other places as well, but it's funny that I was just looking at them yesterday.

You haven't seen my unicycle? Wink

Actually, I use the same set-up as Rob, though I have used the Velociraptor, which is awesome at shedding mud. I think two tire levers were broken after trying to get that sucker off in the spring, however. Exclamation

Nevegals seem to work pretty well, but the 50 durometer rubber can still slip a bit, unless you drop the pressure. Maybe it's my bike (well, maybe not because I have Nevegals on all 3), but I tend to need to lean the bike way into the turn for Nevegals to hook up - it's not a bad thing ,just different.

Maxxis DHF/DHR's in 42A durometer grip well and clear OK in the mud, but they wear out fast...I think you can get them in 2.3-2.7 size, but they run small (ie, a 2.3 maxxis is a 2.1 Kenda)

I dont think a mud specific tire is what's best for fall riding.
Mainly a tough 2.2 or 2.3 like the Cinder, Trailbear, Nevegal, etc.
Tough and fat because the leaves hide sharps and slickness.
Pretty much what "all mountain" tires I ride year round.
Tubeless is my preference and the Kenda Kinetic was great. The Blue Groove in 2.1 UST was not. Im also liking the Geax Sturdy as a rear for the hardtail.
The 2.1 and 2.3 Spiders are a great all arounder, but are not the best for rocky conditions both for grip and durabliity.
Another plus with these big x/c tires is they're ok in snow.
I use half a scoop more sealant for fall/winter and higher tire/lower shock pressure.
