Excellent story Pete, thanks for putting it up here. The fellow they mentioned from Alta Consulting, Jeff Olson, was involved with the U&D Railroad corridor study last year. They were hopeful in making the corridor running from Kingston to Arkville into either a Rail Trail or Rail with Trail system. Unfortunately it met with a lot of resistance from the railroad community. Check out the county website, http://www.co.ulster.ny.us/planning/tran.html, for more info.
