I ride there several times a year since my wife's parents live in Brevard (my wife wonders why I love visiting her parents so much )
Personally, I like DuPont more than Pisgah, but both are excellent. I tend to park at the Cascade Road lot and ride mostly the South and East sections of DuPont which are fabulous. Take your time to stop at the various falls and stream crossings - stunningly beautiful.
Some special notes:
Do the ride up and over Cedar Rock Mountain - like riding at Moab, only greener.
Include Reasonover Creek Trail in your route - the counter clockwise direction is waaaay fun.
Don't miss the descent on Ridgeline Trail - you'll never be able to wipe the smile off you face afterwards
Also - don't miss the Bracken Mountain Loop near downtown.
Can't speak as to where to stay - I always have a hot meal and warm bedding waiting for me at the in-laws.
Have fun! |

thank you for the information. We will add these to our to do list. Have no idea of an acceptable or ideal location to stay with 7 or 8 fellow riders. will keep on searching.
Thank you again.

agreed. state forest is way to go for camping. lots of space. quiet. close to trails. FREE. if you have time on way down or back go to Tsali. Nothing quite like it. Fast, fun, long pump track style trails. swim in lake. camp at entrance. |
