From the mailbag:

Please Sign this Petition to Support the Ashokan Reservoir Recreational Trail!

Hi!
Moving forward with the Ashokan Reservoir section of the proposed Ulster County Rail Trail is coming to a vote at the Ulster County Legislature very soon, perhaps at the regular meeting this month on May 19th.
Please help support sustainable economic development while enhancing our health and quality of life here in the Catskills by adding your name to this petition calling for construction of this scenic multiuse trail in the corridor north of the Ashokan Reservoir:

For further details, see this letter to the editor:

I appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you on the trail! Please forward this message widely.
Many thanks!

This was discussed at our recent club meeting . There will be a vote this Tuesday in Kingston at the DMV Building. It can make a big difference to have cyclist visible on scene and making their voice heard.

There's an important meeting tomorrow 5/19 at the ulster county building in Kingston to vote on the proposed trail. Cyclists in support of the trail should think about the following:

"We are also looking for people to attend the legislative meeting tomorrow (starts at 7 pm, but we think seats in the chamber will go fast, so we are asking people to arrive before 6 pm to grab a chair). If people who are coming can carry a cycling helmet and be ready to stand up when we ask for people to show support for the trail, that would be great. People can also sign up to speak, with the knowledge that if victory looks certain, we will ask speakers to say "I support the trail and I yield my time.""

So after you vote for your school budget, vote for trails!!!
