Looks like the goober clowns are at it again. This time they went about 200 feet UP Bykhed. They came in on the "road" that parallels the fire road that leads to the Taconic lot. Tore Bykhed up nicely...must've happened today because the tracks were fresh in the snow. Followed the "road" out and found some huge logs that can be pulled across the road to block further access. If you're coming down Bykhed, it's about 1000 feet up from the bottom, right at the short steep drop before heading to the fast section and the jump. Not this coming Monday, but next Monday I have the day off. If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated. This moron REALLY tore up the trail, and we need to block access. I'll post up what time I'll be there. No pics because it was dark.

Oh boy. Someone with a serious truck went down the old Timbuktu road and then meandered, crossing the new Timbuktoo to come out on the main road not far to the upper entrance to whachmacallit. This was done between 8am yesterday and 8am today.[/img]

Probably the same $#@%, if a plate # is seen feel free to pass it on directly or to me.
Also any blockage people take the time to add (and keep the main roads open) would help slow them down. @#*&%!

I'm betting the same guy that drove down old Timbuktu is probably the same *&% clown who went for the KOM on Bykhed reverse. He had to have had a serious lift and tires on it to get over the logs I pulled across back in the fall. Tire tracks leading up to Bykhed came from that direction on the fire road. Tim - next Monday I'm going to pull some BIG logs across the road leading to Bykhed. Presume that isn't technically blocking a road? For how big these 2 logs are that I saw, looks like at some point they must've been blocking, but someone moved them.

Rode Tuesday night. Everything was rideable. Traction was excellent. The snow slowed the pace a little. Fat bike or studs not required.

thurs 1.15: Report: BYK HED: crust covered hard pack with some ice here and there.

Wore micro spikes on my hike and they worked perfectly. One rider starting up the trail at about 9am. Didn't get to see if he had studded tires or not.

As you could expect, main dirt roads tend to have more ice and less crusty stuff.

All doable. At least while its still cold.

Singletrack is excellent, no studs or fat necessary.
Icey roads.
No ticks, mosquitos, deer flies or wasps.
No mud.
No credit cards, late charges, or taxes due.

I rode there on Monday with my fat bike with 45 north studded tires and it was challenging. Snow depth was 3-4 inches and the trails are mostly ice underneath. Even the slightest hill had to be walked. Since Monday there is probably another 5-7 inches of snow. The roads might be the only rideable surface.

Rode late yesterday with the fat bike with 45 north studded tires. All of the roads were rideable and broken in by skiers, hikers and other fat bikes. Trails not so much. Went down Tunnel and had a hard time.
