"We had eight experienced volunteers creating one of best working teams to date.

We almost eliminated the pile of crushed stone at our Beaver Pond depot by trucking it to Big Trees Trail at Barron Road. At Big Trees our engineers constructed on/off ramps to the BB Bridge to make access to and egress off the bridge easier and safer. One side utilized our standard recipe of landscape fabric, border stones, and crushed stone. The other side had our stone masons use large stones that were carefully fitted and stacked to withstand the next glacial age. We look forward to hearing from our users about which method they prefer.

We also dug a hole in the hard packed earth to erect our sign post and sign for “Big Trees” trail. Speaking of sign posts, does anyone know who the vandal is who removed our sign post at the Beaver Pond Trail? A few volunteers would like to speak to him or them.

We trucked more stone to the north portion of Muskrat Trail to add a few more causeways through a few known mud wallows PLUS we dug drainage channels to a large mud wallow and shaved portions of the uphill trail to create a downward slope to shed water off the trail so it doesn’t reach the low mud wallow end.

In addition, we resurrected and cleared a short bypass trail to the large mud wallow so riders can easily avoid the mud when it reappears in the wet season.

There was a small amount of crushed stone left so we went across the road and constructed our standard causeway through a mud wallow on Pine Root that is close to New Road.

In summary, nothing beats an experienced crew but an experienced crew can easily burn out IF potential volunteers decide not to participate in helping us maintain the Stewart trails. So please consider that our next scheduled work day is September 20th so stay tuned for more information and we look forward to seeing our experienced and NEW VOLUNTEERS.

Thank you."
