Is the open road calling you this summer? Perfect for an overnight tour or a week...minimal investment, just need panniers and your sense of adventure
Consider this nicely built and cared for Streetstomper. Yes, Streetstomper. Cool name, right?
Only made for two years, this is the "on road" version of the Stumpjumper. I have carefully selected all parts, which is a significant upgrade over the stock configuration. Paint and decals are in very nice shape.
The only real flaws are the broken (but taped together just fine) front fender and a seatpost that is blemished and discolored from the elements.
Specs:
-CroMo frame and fork
-Truvativ MTB crankset
-8-Speed cassette
-Tektro Levers
-On One Midge bar
-Suntour friction barcon shifters
-Deore front derailleur, LX rear derailleur
-XT rear wheel
-LX front wheel
-Mavic Rims (slightly different front/rear)
-Schwalbe Marathon tires with reflective sidewalls
-Old Man Mountain Cold Springs front rack
-Trek rear rack
-HahnTronix front/rear lights (the front is currently MIA but it can't be far...I'll include what I find)
Test rides welcomed and encouraged. Very smooth rig. Looking for $425 obo.

Oh I know I know. I used it to commute to work back in the day not too long ago....before I drove 150 miles a day RT.
It's been hanging up in the bike barn since jobs switched so I think it's time to part ways. Besides, it's time to hone in on a new project anyhow |

I know you would probably like to sell this locally, but try posting it on Crazyguyonabike. It is a touring website and should find a broader audience. It is a very cool bike. |

Thanks Harry, yes, I would love to sell locally if possible. Really hoping to avoid craigslist. |

Kevin! Sorry to derail, but I just got my hands on a streetstomper at goodwill. I saw your conversion on bikeforums when looking for information regarding this odd bike (of which there is none, go figure). I tried to PM you over there, but there is a minimum post count requirement.
Anyway, I want to convert it to drops and was wondering what the stem clamp diameter was, and if the 25.4mm bars worked well on it. Thanks for any help. |

I'll be in the catskills for a flyfishing trip in the next couple of weeks. Would love to see if it's a good fit!
The touring bike I have now is more of a randonneur

You think this would potentially fit?
Thanks,

I've got a pal in Kingston looking for his first bike. He's got about a $400 budget and this looks like the best possible sent-from-heaven bike he could find in his range (or possibly at all). Can he get in touch with you by email or phone? He's not yet a bike person, so he's not on forums like thisn

Chris, I think you may find it a little small. I find it just about right, maybe a touch long, and I ride a smaller road bike than a 54. Your mileage may varry...
Josh, email sent. |
