I was able to take care of the one on the "top" of the trail, cut away the big upper branch that blocked most of the trail, left the lower one which was on the ground, so its a bunny hop if your going downhill or a ride over if heading up.

That tree was definately brought down with a chain saw, very weird.

Other one mid-trail was just old - I'd say we just work on that being a ride-over, some rock ramps and a bit of trail clearing it will be a nice additon to the trail.

There was another tree at the top of Timbuk2 that was brought down with a chainsaw.

WTF is going on? Someone is dropping trees to block trails? Sabotage?

Just to clarify,

2 trees down on Timbuk2, one was brought down with chainsaw, the other just a very old tree that got blown down.

The one that was chainsawed is now cut back to an easy ride over.

The old one will need a bit of trail work to make it a ride over, but I think it should stay as it will make for an added challenge to that part of the trail.

Who & why the one at the top was deliberately cut down will prob not be known, but it was specifically cut to block the trail, as you could tell from the cut marks at the base. Next time someone sees a Ranger, we should let them know about that to help increase awareness.

Question Does not strike me as the 4x4 crowd as they would cut trees to clear more access, maybe an agressive hiker type? But they don't normally want to cut trees either. Question

I suspect it was done by a redneck camper who has operated in that area doing similar stupid stuff. 2 years ago they'd built a large lean-to from green limbs with a case of Heineken bottles broken and melted, plenty of tp in the trail too.

This log is too big for a 24" bow saw. A chainsaw or slight ride around modification/log over will do.

I like the green plastic snake someone left in front of it!
Most of 909 seems running pretty good. That huge tree on the Pirate could use some resolve.
Also, I stand corrected (from a previous post in the Fall). The exit of Getaway is fine. After hooking it today, I looks like I took a high line back in the fall that put me onto the roots and t-n off that rock. There is a good line, right in the center. No need for attention.
Seems like parts of beaver and timbuk2 a got a little wider? Maybe it's because I'm not on the fat-fat-fatty,just the slim fat 29+

Ut oh! That's my 4 year olds snake! I took him and the fam (sans teenage daughter) on a hike. He was so patient while I attempted to cut that tree in half. Don't worry everybody, it's not poisonous!
