79.40$$$ What the f!
It's a 25 mile race-with 5+ miles on dirt roads.
So I just couldn't help myself and signed up anyway! What a rip off! _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

I don't know why I signed up. I've done every ssap so far I guess. Only time I'm most likely to race my fatbike? It isn't the greatest race ever esp with MILES of dirt road and double track. It also isn't like the only time to race at Stewart. We also have the 6-hour and SOS race.
300 x 75.00 = 22,500 says it all...they should pay deep, and not have an e-coli BBQ.
Next year 100$.... Because they can? _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

I guess as long as it continues to fill up in hours...
I try to stay away from cost per mile and look at overall experience...like dining out. That said- I am with you. _________________ If I can bicycle, I bicycle.

I'm in also , for the experience and memories.
This race is unique and the people who put it on put up with a lot of aggravation.
I imagine it ain't easy.
If the DH40 was still happening i'd sign up for that also, but now it's gone !
FWIW the SM100 is $150.00 x 600 = $90,000.00 |

All I'm saying is it isn't the end all and be all of racing.
Like I said there is also at Stweart the 6hour and the SOS challenge (28miles)
FYI you can race either one of those singlespeed as well. (I'll be hitting both) _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

I balked. I only race SS. Of course it's fun to race with all of the geared crowd on Singles, but there is no way I'll pay that much for that event. I went last year ready to see the hype fulfilled, and I was underwhelmed. Even then I thought it was pricey for the overall caliber of event it was. |

yeah but that race doesn't come with a public school grade bbq or a defensive, abrasive, and high horse "promoter". _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

Rode Stewart today-conditions are "very good for stewart". I dare to say that it is no worse that any other place...dry for the most part. _________________ If I can bicycle, I bicycle.

That's awesome.
Getting psyched! (I guess I've forgotten the steep race fee already)
Is this the 6th year of this event?
For the first time I have the bike (and ridden twice) built before the weekend of the race!

I rode the course this morning (with many gears). Overall very good. For the most part it's pretty firm. There are a few huge mud holes and puddles but not too bad. The leaves will keep you honest in the corners, they are pretty greasy at times. There's a couple of steep grunts but overall pretty SS friendly.
The course:

I didn't ride the course last year so I don't know if it's the same. I give you SS'ers credit. I could never do it. Good luck tomorrow. |
