Hi All, does anyone here ever go to Hunter Mtn for some light down hill riding? I am looking to give it a go. Thanks.

I've been to Hunter only once on a rental bike-I thought is was super fun. At the time, Hunter did not really have any man made stuff.

I think people head to mtn creek, highland, and plattekill before hunter.

Hunter does not have any trail riding DH or otherwise anymore, they swapped over to zip line stuff.

Mtn Creek is good for everything from beginner DH to expert now, they spent alot of time, money and effort providing the wide range of trails.

Platty is def int to advanced riding, and everything is natural trails there, no man made like at Mtn Creek.

Past those 2 you start to get into serious road trips : Whiteface or Highland up in NH

Plattekill!!!!!! This place rocks. There is some man made stuff on the left side of the mountain, some sweet berms and a few bridges. They used to have massive wall ride and some bridges up in the trees a few years back but they were gone when i was there this summer. Trails here are awesome plus if you wanna ride xc there are some trails down the backside of the mountain but i havent been on them 10+ years so i dont know how well they are maintained.

I never realized there was anything closer than Hunter. I went with the wife once and the guy at the safety check scared my wife into thinking she would kill herself if she tried to go down the mtn. All because I rode a heavily modified Gary Fisher and hers was stock. Serious weenie. Thanks for the tips. Hope to hit the trails soon!

Hunter was a lot of fun, not sure why they stopped the DH there. But I recommend Platty too.

Jiminy Peak is an often overlooked destination. Though MB runs second fiddle there (it is NOT Plattekill), there are a lot of trails, some features, and an express lift.

I love Jiminy for the Mountain coaster park. I bring the family there a couple times a year. I remember now seeing people zipping down the hill. I am hoping to find some people to ride with to get an idea on technique...plus it's always fun to have witnesses when you have an epic crash..lol.
