So, I'm thinking of getting one. Looking for any advice, comments, etc.
Surly Pugsly is an option. So is 9:ZERO:7, which I'm kinda leaning towards.
Anyone have strong opinions (on fatbikes, Bud, not politics!)? Let 'em rip.

They're Fat and as for the bikes I'm sure SteveL will pop in soon, he'll give ya 510 on that !!!
But if your getting this for the snow rides wait until next year, because this winter is going to be a repeat of last year !! |

The Pugs is a great bike and a blast to ride in any conditions and any season.
After riding a lighter race bike getting on a 10 pound heavier bike will be noticeable but after a day or two that feeling disappears. If you are use to riding a dual suspended bike you may opt for that for rocky tec rides but the larger volume tyres provides some pneumatic suspension over the rough stuff. The question is roll or handle the bike depends how I feel.
Standard weight for a Pugs is around 37 pounds. Mine is 35 I've got them nearing 34. Depends on the build.
This time of the year the Pugs wider tire foot print over wet leaves and hidden trail surface is nice to have. When we start getting colder and get the frost heaves, hands down can't beat the Pugs ability to float. Once into deep winter temps snow or not the Pugs rigid frame feels the best. Very cold temps the body struggles to warm up and a suspended MTB feels like syrup, heavy, and sluggish.
As for the glory of spring and summer still fun to ride. The Pugs rolls better than one might think and is a blast to ride.
I raced the Pugs at Phantom Fest(Lippman) two years now and will be racing it this year. I placed 4th and last year 1st. This year we'll see..............
As for Surly they are a bigger company should you need to work with them on an issue.
GO FAT!...........Later SL

I LOVE THEM!
I got the Mukluk2 last year and it was such a blast!
I would suggest running the 82mm rims (halfway between the 60 on the pugs, and the 100mm clown shoes)
Its all in the rotaional weight- I love the Husker-du's so far.
The format is esp. great when we get that frosty heavy leaves on the trails- given the wet fall... I was hailing ass all over on her, when I hit it on my 29er the frost was a hard drag, not as fun.
What size are you, I have a super secret Funk proto-type coming in hopefully November-December. I'll be selling my frame/fork... _________________ I like big bikes and I can not lie. |

I convert my singlespeed into a "3/4 fat" for winter and spring, full fat front and large marge with 2.7 in back. I agree riding over frost heaves are a non issue, and spring's mushy trail conditions are a blast on those big tires, you're rollin' where everyone else is bogging down and pushin'. I may consider buying a real fatbike in the near future. I see revolution cycles lists them, do you keep any in stock? Ohhhhh mannn, I feel my wallet starting to scream again! |

We're doing special orders now and if someone wants to take a look at one in person I'll arrange to have my bike at the store.
This time of the year it is advisable to order early if not you may face a wait time of March.

If you run some Rolling Darryls these bikes are a blast on the road. I put close to 800 miles on my Pugs this summer just on roads. Very versatile bikes with all the tire and pressure choices. |
