Snow has left the room, it's ok to talk about warm weather now. _________________ If I can bicycle, I bicycle.

Lots of races planned for this season including the Hardcore 24 [team]. My goal is to cat up. And drop this cold I've had forever!
Say hi to my old home town for me! |

I've been trying to get my cardio where it needs to be and plan to hit plattekill for the camps to try to correct any of my issues and build a stronger base of knowledge for better, harder riding this year. |

Memories... I used to live up on Boreas Pass Rd. I used to ride to Keystone and back, up Boreas Pass Rd, which always seemed long and steep. The Baker's Tank trail usually had snow on it, but it was the first single track I ever rode. I rode down to Como once and took the road back across 2 passes before my legs gave up and I hitched a ride back to Breck. I was not exactly a cyclist at all back then. |

Or consider hill repeats while holding your breath. And carrying cinderblocks on your back. |

|
Best advice I can give for high elevation riding is get awesome sleep for a couple of days at the elevation you will ride in.
Secondly, all the hills on the West Coast are bigger! I would say crank up and down Mt Beacon to get a feel for the verticle that you may hit. When I ride in the Sierras it always amazes me what it means to do 3000 and 4000ft as a single climb when it takes a few hours to do that at Blue Mountain hitting the whole place.
Good luck. |

You may also want to stay very hydrated in the higher altitudes. You dry out really quickly there. Your nose, and skin dry out really quickly. When I went to Vail my nose became instantly dried out and breathing was even more difficult. Also Sun Burn at those altitudes is an issue.

(and many others ]this past summer on my 80lb touring bike. My best advice would be to go out as far in advance as possible. Only acclimatization is gonna save your butt. Breck sits at over 9000 ft . after that cardio is key. Good luck. |
