Bikes for Kids 2010

Santa Frenchie and I rented a truck today and made the trip to Kent Bicycles International in NJ to purchase 30 new bikes. The management and warehouse staff at Kent always treat us so well. They love our annual program of giving bikes to kids and go above and beyond to help us. We arrived to find the 30 bikes lined up, fully assembled and ready for loading on our truck. Some of the warehouse guys just take over and carefully load the truck for us. Kent also supplied us with helmets to go along with each bike.

We began the process of delivering the bikes to local agencies who serve children, adolescents and young adults. The agencies will distribute bikes to children and young adults for the holidays. Today we delivered 15 bikes to Ulster County Children's Services and 7 bikes to Family of Woodstock. In coming days 5 bikes will be dropped off at Children's Coordinated Services in Dutchess County, and 3 bikes were set aside for kids in one of our adopted families.

Special thanks go to all Fats members who make this annual program through membership dues, personal donations, and participation in fundraising activities.
