Pedal for Pets
Next Sunday, the third annual Pedal for Pets will be held in Montgomery.
Cyclists will choose from an easy five-mile cruise around Winding Hills Park to challenges 15, 35 and 50 miles long, the 15-miler including Crawford, and the longer rides also Shawangunk, Bullville and Walden.
Between entry fees, pledges, sponsor contributions and an incredible array of raffles, Pedal for Pets, the brainchild of longtime cyclist Butch Dudas of Wallkill, garnered $10,000-plus last year for the Humane Society of Walden, which serves more than 900 animals a year.
This year, the society remains the beneficiary, although Dudas will ask it to donate a portion of proceeds to groups aiding pets either unintentionally or heartlessly/forcibly separated from their families in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.
* The 50-mile Pedal for Pets ride will begin at 8 a.m. next Sunday at Winding Hills Park in Montgomery. The 35-miler leaves at 9 a.m., the 15-miler at 10 a.m. and the five-miler at 11 a.m. Registration is $15 for those
* 10-and-under and $25 for others. Food, beverages and a T-shirt are included.
* Free entry and gift certificates are provided to riders who choose to collect pledges at certain levels.
* Information about Pedal for Pets is available by calling Butch Dudas at 845-895-3101 or by e-mailing him at [email protected]. _________________ Everything you wanted to know about downhill mountain biking at Whiteface but were afraid to ask!!! www.downhillmike.com
