Like the title states..........Mandy and myself will be heading to Stewart this Sunday. Barron Rd. 9am, wheels down shortly after. Social/Casual Pace - We will get some miles in though. One last time before we are kicked out for the season
With the threads that were posted regarding hunting season, I think Mandy and myself are gonna pass on this ride at Stewart until hunting season is over _________________ greg

2 things:
1. I'll be there sunday (with blaze orange vest)
2. Love that bike/deer cart contraption in the pic, forest_biker The next time I hear a hunter say he/she needs an ATV to cart a deer out of the woods I'm gonna refer them to that picture. _________________ Chicks dig guys who do authorized trail work. |

I just spoke to the DEC...the park officially closed to bikers on October 1st through the end of big game season. One of the guys who works at my shop went on the last day of Sept and said that there where 10+ hunters camping in their cars waiting to get in the next morning...
The park is so heavily hunted that you have to make an appointment with the DEC who partols the park throughout the day. I would not go...

I rode at Stewart last night with someone who knows the people in charge and says the season is, in fact, extended until Nov. Now I'm really confused |

not sure about you, but a weird looking man standing in the middle of the trail with gun in hand marks the end of the stewart season for me...that and the gunshots. _________________ If I can bicycle, I bicycle.

Seeing these threads, I think this planned ride will have to wait till hunting season is over at Stewart _________________ greg

Don't know...give the DEC a call, the guy this morning told me that as of October 1st only hunters where allowed in, maybe he was wrong. Either way there are a lot of hunters there already...wear orange and tie a cowbell to your seat!

Yeah I'm out too.
Idiots who sit in one spot all day to shoot at something that walks by and call it a sporting cannot be trusted.

Those dates are for deer, its small game and Turkey (shotgun) as of 10/1. They can blast til noon I think. This includes 909, Jockey Hill, etc. _________________ Pedal, b*tches!! |

I don't really get the hatred towards hunters (excluding those guys with the bikes I totally understand that)...I am going to get my license next year...my buddy owns 500 acres upstate. I'd rather kill my own food than have disease covered hormone injected slaughterhouse meat...besides...venison is such a great tasting meat!!

I think hatred is a strong word, distain maybe more like it. Hunting upstate where the population is less and your encounters with others is slim to none is fine with me. When a user group can have an area closed to everyone but them, and inexperienced hunters, hunting in a more populated area scare me to death.
I thought I heard that the best time to hunt deer is in the Fall and Winter because the parasites in the deer meat are at the lowest then? |
