Idea

What kinda lights are you burning this year?

Anybody making the switch to LED's?
Anybody working on Homemade LED lights?

There are some sick , super bright LED sources scheduled to be released this year.

It seems like in the next few years Halogen and HID will be going the way of the V-brakes.

I'll be running the old Hope Vision HID. I love the durability and longevity of LEDs but, I'm not ready to lay out the extra coin this year for an upgrade. Crying or Very sad

I've been running Light and Motion Arc HID for three seasons now. I'm happy with the brightness, it lasts a good amount of time and it charges quickly Very Happy

I'm using a Jet Lights Phantom Single Beam w/ Smart Switch helmet mount. It produces a good amount of light with a 20w halogen bulb and lasts for about 2hr 45min (as long as I'm not running it at full brightness), and durable too.

I bought it based on the positive reviews on MTB Review.

I also use a Nite Rider Trail Rat bar mounted light as backup and for extra light going downhill.[/url]

I've been using the Light and Motion-Stella with NiMH battery pack, you can find it around $165 on the web.

I use it only as a helmet light and it gives a good broad beam with a bright center.

When it really gets dark in the later Fall, I'll use a NightHawk K2 digital emitter light on the bars, which throws a strong spot beam far ahead, but I don't recommend it. It's bulky and I've had a few problems with it.

Here is a older review page that has a cool interface for comparing a few lights.

I'm sure there are newer review pages out there, if you look.

Ive had a Cygo-Lite HID for over 3 good years. It worked great til the bulb burned out. After I'd paid them $110 to replace it, it was shutting down randomly. Im out a light a few weeks and then hopefully set up right this time.
Thats for the helmet...plenty of white light.
On the bars is a Planet Bike 5/8/12W Halogen for back up.

Love my DiNotte. I have the 600L. I have read good thing about the 400L but they also just released an 800. I can't imagine needing more light than what I have, but I guess you can never really have enough light.

you mean like I did tonight? Just enough of a spot of light from my cheapy to show some big stuff, other than that I relied on photographic memory as to where everything was. I made it out alive (fell the equivelant of 5 feet on my back though.. thank god for the new camel back
